GALLANTS

Rain fell in torrents swamping everything
Bullet holes in village walls permitted mist and wind
Fierce battles those years, our armies matching forward, not to prune, but the foe to uproot
All strategies weaved, 20,000 solders dared to topple the illegitimate reign
And a forest of warriors, with arrows and guns, forth set the foe down to shoot
That day our god-like heroes dirtied the Union jack and broke down the colonialist chains
Remembered for all ages are our Generals’ will strong
Preserved in revolutionary songs can their gallant deeds be found?
