COMRADESHIP

A strange bird croons atop the jagged crest a young sun comes to view
The day is bright, driving winds hasten rare plants to full bloom.
Old barks peel off from crooked trunks; before dusk, I begin to miss you.
Broke, we rarely met, loaded however together we’d always get.
Seeking pleasure, we often roamed town to town;
Only when ran out of finances would we from leisure chambers depart.
Rain falls at twilight to add weight to my lose gown;
My old companion is deep, deep in my heart.
Between us is a thousand miles of thorns and briars
To think of you thrills my heart with sad, sad tears.
When we bid farewell who’d have guessed it’d be for 15 years!
