We wanduire kῖrimũ

We wanduire kῖrimũ, kwῖrῖra ‘takũhingia

Rῖu nduoyaga thimũ; ũkeheta rakũgia

Wendo ningῖ nῖ ũrimũ, tiga maa kũndurithia

Ndagũthaitha we njoya, tiga kũnjonorithia

Ngwiciragia ngacaya, ndakuona ‘gatithia

Wendo maa ndũri guoya, Wendo ndũrῖ kῖnyiria!

Gagwitetera kamweke, ndũgikahe ka mũthia

Njinũ, irumi, mateke, tiga ‘hutanie thia

Gῖthita  gῖtii  kῖgwῖke, kũgῖe gῖthingithia

We Wanduire kῖrimũ, maheni kũnjikῖria

Wendo  rῖu ta mũrimũ, ngoro no kwigiagia

Mũrũrũ ta   ndimu, maithori kwῖitῖrῖria

    1. thank you for the kind comment. the main character in this poem is a woman, she is very cunning, now this man who fancy’s her is lamenting her indifference towards him; she keeps promising him love, she keeps him waiting for his turn in vain, now she won’t even receive his phone calls. Gikuyu is sweet, just like Swahili its structure is a bit different from English , that’s what make these languages sweet as the poetry is recited inform of a song . thank you
